About

Built to stop freelancers from dreading bookkeeping.

Snapcite started because a shoebox of receipts cost real money. We made a tool so that never has to happen again.

Marcus Ellery, Snapcite’s co-founder and CEO, watched his sister spend an entire week before tax time hunting for contractor receipts she had shoved into a shoebox and forgotten. She found most of them. She missed enough to matter.

That story is not unusual. Freelancers and small business owners lose real money every year to deductions that were never logged, because entering receipts by hand is painful enough that most people put it off until it is too late.

The solution was not a better spreadsheet. It was a product that could actually read a receipt: extract the vendor, date, amount, tax, and line items; decide whether it looks like a business or personal expense; and drop everything into a clean, exportable record. That required serious vision and language models, so Snapcite was built AI-native from day one.

Today, Snapcite handles the receipts so freelancers, contractors, and small teams can handle the work they actually get paid for.

Built AI-native

The AI is not a layer. It is the product.

Snapcite runs each receipt through a model-agnostic extraction layer that picks the best result from modern vision models. The output is schema-checked before it ever reaches your expense record, so nothing is guessed or fabricated.

  • Vision model reads pixels into structured text
  • Language model extracts fields and assigns a category
  • Schema validation keeps every record clean
  • Accuracy program tracks and improves extraction over time

What we believe.

AI as infrastructure, not a feature badge

Reading a real-world receipt well requires modern vision and language models. Snapcite was built around that from the first commit. As models improve, so does your bookkeeping, with nothing to change on your end.

Honest about what we are and what we are not

Snapcite is bookkeeping and organization support, not tax or accounting advice. Estimates and categories should be reviewed before you file. We keep that boundary clear in every part of the product, not just the fine print.

Your data stays yours

Financial documents should never feel trapped in a product. Everything you upload can be exported as CSV or deleted permanently from your account settings, at any time.

Made for people doing real work

Snapcite is built for freelancers, contractors, and small business owners, not accountants. The product should handle the receipts so you can handle the job.
